Two Go Mad in Norway!

Diary of our adventures on our Christmas gift trip to Norway, thanks to son James!
Saturday 9th February..Trondheim
Arrived last night after a full day's travel from Lisbon via Oslo, to a 20 degree change in temperature from 12 degrees to -8! Settled into our lovely hotel and then ventured out into the night
Snow, ice, slippery streets and fresh air!

Ate out last night in local pub, refusing the meal of the day of whale and settling for a schnitzel for Fraser and fish dish for me ! The local beer was wonderful, best we have had since Prague called Dahls and cost £7 a half litre but well worth it. Total bill was over £60! But hey! we are on holiday! Gulp!

Breakfast this morning was like a major banquet and didn't know where to start, but we soon overcame that problem and tucked in to fresh fruit, scrambled egg and smoked salmon for me and Fraser got stuck into an amazing omelette and sausage amongst other things. Having stuffed ourselves to get us through the day we went out and about.
Here are a few shots of our visits today to the Cathedral
Sun level is low so the lighting is magical.  Followed by  a break at the art bar for a much needed hot chocolate and warm up

Along to the Old Town Bridge and Wharves, where the river is coated with ice despite the fast flowing current

And then a mooch through the streets of the old town.

We discovered that guerrilla knitters had been out and about covering up the odd tree and sculpture with their work...just loved it. What a Great First Day!
Watch this space for more  over the next week. Tomorrow we board a cruise boat for two nights to travel up above the arctic circle to Tromso.

it's only the first post and yet I'm already drooling... it probably has something to do with the fact that my skin is turning green for some unknown reason...

sole consolation is that for 7 quid I can get a terrific hangover around here (better yet, for 7 quid I can even get 2 hangovers in a row or buy my wife one too....)

have fun you 2!

abraços

What a great Xmas present - enjoy the frozen north. When I was there I did notice that the price of booze did not stop some of the locals getting drunk - perhaps it was home brew.
